地图是人们获取地学空信息的中介和桥梁．地图信息以视觉传输为主要传输方式，故可视化是地图学的核心．本文在论述地图可视化必须满足的基本条件的基础上，对地图比例尺、地图内容的有限性、地图概括及其相关概念的派生、地图色彩的运用、地图符号性质与地图比例尺的相关性、相似现象的普遍存在与它空间认识中的意义、制图资料的处理、计算机制图中的质量监控、地图制印中样图的作用等，分别进行了论述、从而解释了可视化是地图学的核心问题．

Maps are the medium and bridge by which people can gain geo-spatial information. Map information is mainly transferred through visual communication, so visualization is the core of cartographies. This paper, on base of the basic conditions of map visualization, expounds the map scale, limited map content, derive of map generalization and its relational concepts, utilization of map color, relativity of map symbol quality and map scale, universal existence of resemble phenomenon and its meaning in spatial cognition, processing of cartographic document, quality control in computer cartography, affect of proof in map platemaking and printing, etc. so as to illustrate that visualization is the core of cartographies.
