Distributed innovation is a phenomenon that has become increasingly important for both theory and practice over the last few years. This new model demands that enterprises develop different skills, in particu- lar, the ability to collaborate with partners to achieve superior innovation performance. Distributed innovation is an important source of innovation under globalization. Based on literature review and business survey, this paper explores the mechanisms for distributed - innovation competitive advantage, first suggests the framework consisted of global collaboration strategy, collaboration organization, collaborative capabilities. Then, each part is analyzed in detail. In the global collaboration strategy, "3 C" structure is proposed. In the collaboration organization, the design team, contract structure and intellectual property are analyzed as three important points. In collaborative capabilities, this paper proposes the "four pillars" of people, processes, platforms and programs.
