Mercury is a heavy metal with very strong toxicity. After the construction of the Three Gorges Dam, the "reservoir effect" of mercury in the reservoir area is increasingly attracting people's attention. The soil at the water- level-fluctuating zone is both the source and destination of mercury, hence its important influence on the reservoir environment. This paper summarizes the progress of researches on soil mercury at water-level-fluctuating zone in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area and gives some suggestions.
