This paper studied the impact of tail water from Changshou Urban Wastewater Treatment Plant in normal water season and dry season on the water quality of Three Gorges Reservoir. The results showed that the water flow in normal water season was not conducive to the transport of pollutants, leading to a polluted zone wider than in dry season; during normal water season, inflow background concentration for TP reached Class Ⅲ water quality stand- ard, forming a 700 m over-standard (Class Ⅲ ) polluted zone; CODMn and NH4-N might form a polluted zone above its background but not over Class Ⅲ water quality standard; in dry season, NH4-N formed an over-standard (Class Ⅲ) polluted zone 50 m long and 50m wide; CODMn and TP concentrations in the backgrourd polluted zone still met Class Ⅲ water quality standard.
