Current situations of traditional wet acetylene generation process were introduced. The wet process and the dry process were compared. It was regarded that if the wet process was modified in aspects of crushing, transportation and feeding of calcium carbide, reaction control and gas purification, the consumption of calcium carbide could be reduced considerably, the serious environmental pollution problems could be solved, and thus its sustainable development could be realized.
