20世纪20年代，王尚德创办了赤水职业学校。从此，他以学校为基地，以教育学生“为社会进步、国家富强、人民幸福奋斗到底”为理念，大胆创新，以灵活有效的方法和方式，对学生和民众进行有侧重点的马克思主义教育。从而，培养了一大批革命骨干，促进了党团组织的建立与发展，推动了革命运动的发展，为秦东地区社会的进步做出了重要贡献。
