The status and role of the Input Hypothesis in Second Language Acquisition has become a topic of increasing concern in the field of linguistics. This paper reviews the development of the theory of input and introduces the evidence of the Input Hypothesis. The key to successful teaching, vocabulary teaching and the cultivation of students' pragmatic competence are also discussed.
