沪通铁路工程的建设将对南通经济社会的发展带来影响。在实地调研的基础上，文章首先阐明了周边地区经济发展给南通带来的机遇及沪通铁路工程所起的桥梁纽带作用，然后就该工程建成后对南通经济社会发展的意义和社会行业的影响特征展开论述，最后就优化该工程对南通经济的社会发展提出几点政策性策略。

The construction of Shanghai-Nantong railway will bring on considerable impact on the develop-ment of Nantong social economy. On the basis of the field study, the article first illustrates the opportunity of social economic development in peripheral area for Nantong and the pivotal role of the Shanghai-Nantong project, and then discusses the implications of the project for the social economic development in Nantong and the key features of such an impact on social industry. Finally, several policy strategies were raised for the op-timization of its impact originated from the project.
