As an example that the embankment landslide danger posed by dike foot instability,the reasons of embankment landslide were found through the geological investigation and numerical simulation method,the range of sliding body was determined and the effective methods to prevent such landslides were presented. The results show that:a)After the dike sliding,the work of surveying and mapping of the landslide zone are com-pleted within a short time,and the treatment scheme of specialized units or expert are put forward;b)The shear strength of soil is improved in the landslide treatment in order to improve the ability of the foot support;c)Geological investigation program are simplified for the clear shallow and causes of the landslide,for the complex geological conditions or not deep landslide geological survey the geological prospecting should be carried out,the sliding zone is further investigated and sliding reason is analyzed;d)The desired effect is difficult to be achieved through a single treat-ment measure means of instability caused by the landslide;e)The dike foot air building at the embankment and trench excavation during construc-tion should be avoided.
