Hastelloy, which is a high - strength steel material with excellent corrosion resistance, has been widely and increasingly applied in industries along with its continuous innovation and development in about one hundred years'production and research. Appropriate selection of this material can extend the service life of the process units. Here described are the development history of Hastelloy, the development of several Hastelloys and problems solved in the development as well as properties, types, compositions and performances of Hastelloy steels, corrosion resistance performances, chemical and mechanical performances and welding techniques. The applications of Hastelloy steel in chemical production, environmental protection and equipment manufacturing industries and associated precautions are discussed. The steel can be selected for highly corrosive services in petrochemical industry and other special services.
