This paper introduces the functions and the principles of the hold-down and release mechanism actuated by a thermal knife element,and gives the using times of the key element as the release reliability characteristic parameter of the mechanism.Based on the hypothesis of the using times of the thermal knife element following Poisson distribution,and the release reliability validation tests and evaluation methods for the hold-down and release mechanism are put forward,including test method choosing,determination of test state,test program,failure criterion and reliability assessment method.An application example of the method is shown.By the reliability evaluation test method,the release reliability of the hold-down and release mechanism actuated by a thermal knife element could be verified.
