Ground Based Synthetic Aperture Radar (GBSAR), as a new geoclimatic deformation monitor-ing equipment, synthetic aperture technology and step frequency technology are used to get a high spa-tial resolution, both on cross-range and range of the radar image, and get sub-millimeter level accuracy for the micro-deformation monitoring. The principle and application mode of micro-deformation moni-toring system based on GBSAR are introduced. Further, by three experiments, namely dam-break simu-lation experiment, high structural wind-deviation deformation experiment and bridge load deformation experiment, it is verified that the system can be used in several deformation monitoring fields.
