Background and current situation of the EU tobacco control were introduced with an aim to gain a better understanding of EU laws and regulations on tobacco control and their impact on consumers and cigarette market. It revealed a tightening law environment on tobacco control and increasingly fierce market competition. Measures that China’s tobacco industry should take were also investigated. It is hoped that this will provide useful reference for China Tobacco when exploring overseas market.
