The construction of foundation pit engineering works in soft-soil areas can affect the materials surrounding the pit. This study analyzes in situ monitoring data of construction from foundation pit engineering in which a top-down construction method has been used. The results show that the top-down construction method effectively ensures the security of the surrounding environment. The study provides a reference for similar engineering projects in regions characterized by more vulnerable geological conditions, by narrow construction sites, or by more stringent regional environmental protection requirements.
