The research progress of low alloy steel in marine atmosphere zone and marine full immersion zone were summarized in the present paper. The mechanisms of the effect of alloy elements on corrosion resistance of low alloy steel were introduced. The mechanisms of the formation of rust and the composition of corrosion products were also introduced as well. The prospect tendency of low alloy steel in marine atmosphere and full immersion zone development was concluded.
