In this article, the therapeutic process and effects were retrospectively analyzed in a patient with malignant ifbrous histiocytomas in special parts of the patellar tendon. During the therapeutic process, the extensor mechanism was reconstructed with 4-layer polypropylene mesh after preoperative neoadjuvant chemotherapy and intraoperative wide excision of patellar tendon tumors. Adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy were performed postoperatively in case of tumor recurrence. The patient was followed up continuously for 15 months after the surgery. No local tumor recurrence was found, and the lfexion and extension functions of the right knee joint were restored. Based on the clinical observation combined with previous clinical ifndings, it was thought that 4-layer polypropylene mesh could provide the mechanical strength and physiological compatibility needed for reconstruction of the extensor mechanism. Together with radiotherapy and chemotherapy, 4-layer polypropylene mesh could also be applied for reconstruction of the extensor mechanism in place of autologous tendon transplantation after the surgical treatment of low-grade malignant tumors, and the function of the knee joint could be maintained. Therefore, it was worth carrying out the further study.
