大湘西非物质文化遗产具有数量多、种类全、密度大、特色浓、濒危重等突出特点，亟待抢救性保护。保护中必须遵循濒危优先抢救、就地保护、整体保护、活态保护等原则，探索有效的保护方法，采取针对性的保护措施，走有大湘西特色的保护之路，以维系该区域文化的多样性，促进该区域文化的大发展大繁荣。
대상서비물질문화유산구유수량다、충류전、밀도대、특색농、빈위중등돌출특점，극대창구성보호。보호중필수준순빈위우선창구、취지보호、정체보호、활태보호등원칙，탐색유효적보호방법，채취침대성적보호조시，주유대상서특색적보호지로，이유계해구역문화적다양성，촉진해구역문화적대발전대번영。
