采用正硅酸乙酯对工业氧化铝载体进行改性，之后用于制备钯催化剂并应用于丙酮缩合制备甲基异丁基酮（MIBK）反应。结果表明，硅含量为1％时，丙酮转化率最高，随着硅含量增加，MIBK选择性逐渐升高，但硅含量高于5％时，选择性反而降低。

Supported Pd - catalysts carried on alumina modified by tetraethyl orthosilicate are used as cat- alysts in condensation of acetone to methyl isobutyl ketone. The result shows that when Si content is 1% , the convention of acetone reached the maximum and the MIBK selectivity becomes higher with the in- crease of Si content. But when Si content is more than 5 %, it has the poorer selectivity.
