The characteristic, application and recent development of inorganic and organic boron - containing flame retardants were reviewed. The performance and modification of inorganic and organic boron - containing flame retardants in pratical use were detailed. The development should be nano - sizing and synergist effect for zinc borate and compositing for organic boron - containing flame retardants. Collaborative type boron - containing flame retardants had better hydrolysis stability and flame retardant.
