This paper discussed the relationship of error between the actual surface and the theoretical surface. A formula based on semi-optical path difference and normal error was obtained. The data of normal error from laser tracker were changed to semi-optical path difference reflecting the electrical performance. And it was applied to reflector antenna surface detection for a compact range.
