"The Structural Reliability Theory"is a postgraduate professional courses which the reliability theory and structural analysis are closely combined. It contains with the characteristics of numerous mathematical knowledge, strong logicality and boring content. According to the characteristics of the course of structural reliability theory and its teaching requirements, major problems and corresponding causes during teaching the course was analyzed in this paper. Describes the theoretical teaching content optimization, new ideas innovative teaching methods and assessment methods and strengthen the teaching paradigm.Teaching reform and practice show that the transformation of teaching mode could stimulate students' enthusiasm and initiative, which lays a solid foundation on their following professional course, as well as their scientific research and dissertation.
