The airway mucociliary clearance (MCC)is the important defense function.More and more studies provide evidence of impaired MCC in the progress of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD),and in turn the diminished mucus clearance induced by impaired MCC accelerates the process of COPD patients.MCC has always been a hot spot of studying and intervening in COPD,so the recent researches of impaired airway mucociliary clearance in COPD are reviewed in this paper.
