终身学习背景下，信息获取与传播的过程是广义教育，广义教育技术即为提高信息获取与传播效率、效果的技术。文章提出基于广义教育技术建立机械工程专业教学系统，包括基于Matlab软件的工程数学教学技术、基于Solidworks软件的机械专业课程教学技术、基于虚拟现实的专业前沿教学技术；分析了每个阶段广义教育技术的应用方式和范围，技术应用的内容和细节，用例子证实相关技术的实用性及优势。
