T his paper expounded the research situation and recent development of mechanisms on herbicides briefly .Four types of herbicides were involved ,photosynthesis inhibiting herbicide ,pig-ment synthesis inhibiting herbicide ,amino acid biosynthesis inhibiting herbicide and lipid synthe-sis inhibiting herbicide .The outlook on research and development of herbicides was presented .
