Although Bergmann's rule was tested to be valid among many biological fauna, extenstive controversy on its validty still exists in rodents. In this research,we used A.draco of Apodemus and N.confucianus in Niviventer as models animals to testify the rule based upon the relationship between skull basal length and latitude and altitude. The results indicated that no significant positve relationship existed in A.draco and N.confucianus between their skull base length and latitude, and in A.draco and N.confucianus between their skull basal length and altitude.Furthermore, significant negative relationship was found in N.confucianus between their skull basal length and latitude. These results highlighted that the rule can not be applied to all species under the two genus.Their body sizes seemed not to be determined by single, but multiple factors, such as climate, diet, predation, competition, and lifestyle as well.
