With the development of industry and agriculture, the discharge of waste water containing ammonia was increased greatly, which has great harm to humans, animals and ecological balance. In this paper, the source and harmfulness of the ammonia-nitrogen pollution in water was discussed. And the most common methods and treatment processes were compared. The combination of catalytic oxidation and absorption could carry out the treatment of waste water containing ammonia-nitrogen effectively, and it would be a major task of modern environmental protection.
