自从卢梭提出了“天赋人权”的观点以后，越来越多的女性开始意识到要为自己的权利而斗争，女作家夏洛蒂·博朗特就是她们的代表之一。其杰作《简·爱》由于所反映的女权意识而广受欢迎。夏洛蒂·博朗特无论是个人经历还是矛盾性格都同简如出一辙。她反叛传统，坚持写作，她反对婚姻，但在面对真爱时却选择放弃，最终还是沦为以家庭为重的“家庭天使”。本文通过对小说女主人公复杂性格的分析，竭力证明集觉醒的女权主义者和保守的理想主义者于一身的简·爱正是作家的文学化身。

Since Rousseau brought up the theory of ＂natural right＂, more and more women have awakened to the necessity of fighting for their rights. The female writer Charlotte Bronte is one of their representatives. Her masterpiece Jane Eyre is well accepted as a novel which gives an expression of feminist awareness. Charlotte Bronte not only shares similar experiences with Jane, but also has the same contradictory character as her. She rebels a- gainst tradition by struggling to be a writer, disapproves of marriage, but chooses to escape in face of true love and inevitably withdraws into ＂an angel in the house＂ in real life. This paper analyzes the complex character of the heroine and tries to prove that Jane Eyre is her creator＇ s literary incarnation who is the combination of an awakening feminist and a conservative idealist.
