Author has introduced the typical process flow for synthetic natural gas made by coal; has discussed the technical schemes, process plant and utility arangement for KBR process (fluidized bed) , BGI, process (fixed bed) , Shell upstream water quenching process (pulverized coal gasification with gas flow bed) ; has compared the main raw material used for 3 kinds of different coal gasification processes, the utility consume and the technical/e- conomic calculation. Result indicates that not only the coal quality features, resource of raw coal, its price and economy of product are to be considered in selecting coal gasification technology, but also all round factors of ripeness and reliability of technology, impact on environment and social benefit etc are to be comprehensively evaluated and compared.
