挡土墙是广泛用在公路工程中用来支持承受山坡土体滑塌、路基填土放坡或土体失稳变形的一种构造物。本文通过对埃塞俄比亚首都亚的斯亚贝巴外环公路挡土墙设计进行探究，得出有关公路工程挡土墙设计的体会和注意事项，希望对以后埃塞公路挡土墙设计带来一些参考及借鉴。

The retaining wall is widely used in highway engineer-ing. Usually it is used to enhance the slope's stability and to effective-ly prevent the slope from subsidence. In the Outer Ring Road engi-neering in Ethiopia in Addis Ababa, the retaining wall is widely used in some sections of the main road. From this research and design of retaining wall of Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa outer ring road ,it is concluded that the design experience of retaining wall in highway and the matters needing pay attention, and give some reference to the de-sign of retaining wall of other project in Ethiopia.
