The flange joint with metallic gasket under radial loads is introduced ,and its structure features and sealing mechanism are analyzed .Using the finite element method ,the mechanical characteristics are studied .Under different axial compression of metallic gaskets ,the radial forces ,axial forces and maximum von Mises stresses on the sealing surfaces of three sealing structures are calculated ,of which the cone flare angles of the flanges are different .The mechanical characteristics are represented , and the influences to the assemblage and sealing characteristic of the sealing structures are included .Compared to the general flange joint with metallic gasket under axial loads ,the tightening load needed by the sealing structure un-der radial loads is small ,and lighter flanges and smaller bolt load can be used .There are many merits for the sealing structures ,such as small assemblage space ,short assemblage time ,and be used in radiation or distance operation situations etc .
