As one of natural carotenoids, lycopene has many physiological health functions on human body. Therefore, the research of lycopene is a hot topic in the fields of food, health care products, cosmetics, etc. in the world. The action mechanism of lycopene in physiological health and application progress are reviewed and the development prospect is discussed in this paper.
