The design background and objectives of capstone experience courses in American research universities are introduced. The teaching methods adopted and the characteristics of capstone experience courses are illustrated by taking two courses as examples, which have respectively been given by the department of computer science and engineering and the department of electrical and computer engineering in Michigan State University. The important inspiration and significance of capstone experience course for the innovations in unde teaching in Chinese universities are demonstrated.
