相量法是计算线性电路的一种简便有效的数学方法。该文采用文献搜集与研读、当事人寻访等方法研究了"相量"的词源。英文"相量"术语"phasor"是由"phase"一词派生而来,于1941年8月至1944年3月期间由美国威斯康星大学麦迪逊分校电气工程系教授Edward Bennett向美国电机工程师学会(American Institute of Electrical Engineers,AIEE)推荐使用。在该词产生前,曾用"rotating vector"、"vector"、"sinor"等来表示正弦量。"相量"可能是英文术语"phasor"的意译,意指有相位的量。"相量"可能最早由上海交通大学电机工程系教授林海明提出。西安交通大学电工原理教研组编著、1960年出版的《电工基础》上册是目前见到最早出现汉语术语"相量"的中文文献。上海交通大学电工原理教研组编著、1961年8月出版的《电工理论基础》第二册是第一本出现"相量"术语、在中国公开发行且在当时有较大影响的中文教材。

The Phasor method is a simple and effective mathematical method in solving the linear circuits.The origins of term "Xiàngliàng" were studied by means of collecting and analyzing literatures,and visiting the concerned professors in this paper.The English term "phasor" is derived from the phase.It is recommended to the American Institute of Electrical Engineers by Edward Bennett,Professor of the department of electrical engineering,University of Wisconsin-Madison,during the period of August 1941-March 1944.Before the term phasor is suggested,such terms as the rotating vector,vector and sinor are used to represent the sinusoid quantities."Xiàngliàng" seems to be paraphrased from phasor and means the quantity having phase."Xiàngliàng" is possibly proposed by Lin Haiming(Professor of the department of Electrical Engineering,Shanghai Jiao Tong University).Among the literatures obtained so far Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering(volume 1) may be the Chinese literature which is the earliest one including the Chinese term "xiàngliàng".It is compiled by the teaching and research steering group of principles of electrical engineering,Xi'an Jiao Tong University and published in 1960.Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering Theory(volume 2) written by the teaching and research steering group of principles of electrical engineering of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and published in August 1961 is the first Chinese textbook issued in public where the term "xiàngliàng" is included.It is one of the textbooks which have a greater impact than other ones among the textbooks of principles of electrical engineering in China.
