苏共二十大的召开，不仅对苏联共产党产生了非常大的影响，而且对中国共产党也产生了非常大的影响。这些影响有积极的一面，也有消极的一面。积极影响主要有：促使中国共产党开始反思照搬照抄苏联模式，认识到个人突出和个人崇拜的危害，引出了毛泽东对社会主义社会矛盾问题的思考，同时也为“文革”后中共中央和邓小平如何评价毛泽东提供了经验教训。消极影响是促使毛泽东形成防修反修的思想，从而进一步导致反右派斗争的严重扩大化。
