This paper introduces the PLC selection principle. The selected type of PLC should be the systems which are widely used in industrial area and maturing, the PLC system hardware, software configuration, and the functions should be suitable to the plant scale and control requirements. The control tasks and range are made clear, the necessary operations and actions are determined, and then the input/output points, the required storage capacity are estimated according to the control requirements, also the PLC function and external equipment characteristics and so on are determined, finally the PLC with higher cost-efficiency is chosen, and the corresponding control system is designed.
