With an analysis on the present situation of energy structure and nuclear power development in China and demonstration of the advantages of nuclear power, this study discusses the actual need for nuclear power in terms of energy saving and emission reduction, energy structure optimization, satisfaction of the growing energy demand and stable power supply, industrial development, national security and improvement of the comprehensive national power. It concludes that development of high-efficiency nuclear power in China is of great significance and an inevitable choice of China.
