所谓终身教育是指人们一生中所受教育的总和。它包括学前教育、初等教育、中等教育、高等教育和各类成人教育。老年教育作为一种特殊形式的成人教育,是终身教育的最后阶段。日本从上世纪60年代引入了终身教育理念,在政界、教育界和财界纷纷采取了措施,为建立完善终身教育制度,创建终身学习型社会而努力。

The so-called lifelong education refers to the total education a person receives in his whole life.It consists of preschool education,primary education,secondary education,higher education and kinds of adult education.Education of the aged, the last stage of lifelong education,is a special style of adult education.The concept of lifelong education was introduced to Japan in 1960s. Since then, political circle, education circle and financial circle have been making efforts to construct a perfect lifelong education system and a lifelong learning society.
