假扮的本质是基于想象的精神模仿行为,其源头可追溯至先民在原始巫术仪式中装扮为祖先或图腾以祈福的活动。从民间游戏到工艺制作再到艺术鉴赏,“羊人为美”所携带的假扮基因在中国审美文化史上得到广泛传承,涵盖民间游戏、诗文艺术及工艺赏玩等五个分支。从某种意义上说,中国审美文化史重精神模仿而轻形式模仿、重意境而轻形似的审美习性以及借神思作忘的方式通达心与物游境界的审美追求是历经传承的假扮基因所造就的。

The essence of make-believe is an imagination -based mental simulation , which stems from ancestors wearing decoration on head pretending to be gods in ancient religious ceremony as shaman , in order to pray for living , health and winning in conquest .The make-believe factors inside ancient reli-gious ceremony had been brought down from generation to generation , from ceremony to literature and arts, as well as games and artifacts .According to the paradigm of make -believe, Chinese artists prefers aesthetic atmosphere to resemblance to represented objects .Thus, aesthetic appreciation of Chinese arts shows similar qualities with the game of make -believe, which pursues freedom as aesthetic pleasure .
