With the large scale deployment of 100 Gbit/s equipment, 400 Gbit/s technology is now becoming the focus in the high speed optical commu-nication field. Firstly 400 Gbit/s development back-ground and standardization process is introduced in this paper, and secondly 400 Gbit/s key technology and solution choices are investigated in detail, and fi-nally the future application prospect of 400 Gbit/s technology are discussed.
