The structure of FDR sensor probe has a great influence on soil moisture content measurement , and can not be ignored as one of important factors .In order to research electromagnetic field distribution in different probe structure , provide a theoretical method for sensor design , the probe electromagnetic field are simulated under different structure in this paper through numerical analysis .The optimal structure of probe design method and measurement sensitive area are be determined by the numerical analysis method .Matlab PDE toolbox was be used for simulating four different structure probe electromagnetic field .the 7 pin structure of the sensor probe was be determined as the best structure .Through the 7 pin probe electromagnetic field calculation , identified by a e-1 times field intensity attenuation , 0 .48 r was as the sensi-tive area for water content measurement .The aera of central needle is very important for the soil water content accurate measurement to FDR probe .We should pay attention to the choice of measuring point position and the size of the area in the process of installing the FDR probe .
