以河南教育学院外语系英语专业学生为研究对象，利用理论阐述和数据统计方法，分析英语专业学生自主阅读的现状，指出其成因主要包括依赖性强，自主意识淡薄；情感焦虑，文化缺失；考试制度的制约；缺乏系统的元认知等阅读策略训练。提出教师和学生都要认识到自主阅读的必要性，树立自主学习的意识。

Based on the elaboration of relevant theories and the data statistics approach ,this essay analyzes the cur-rent situation of English majors'autonomous reading in Foreign Languages Department of Henan Institute of Educa-tion .Problems revealed in the research are brought about by such causes as strong dependence ,weak sense of auton-omy,emotional anxiety,culture default,restriction of the examination system and lack of the training of systematic meta-cognitive reading strategies .The author finally proposes that both teachers and students should realize the ne -cessity of autonomous reading and develop a consciousness of autonomous learning .
