Automatic voltage control (AVC) is a new technology in power system to realize reactive voltage optimization and coordination control. In order to improve the quality of power supply and to ensure the safe and stable operation of Liaoning power grid, a comprehen-sive AVC system in Liaoning power grid was constructed. This article presents the adopted measures to strengthen the building of the AVC system, makes analysis of AVC system construction achievements, and illustrates the roles of the construction and application of AVC system in promoting the security, stability, high efficiency, high-quality operation and management of power grid.
