Taking Jakobson’s terminology and classification of translation as its starting point, this paper probes into many classic literary works’interrelationship with their imagery adaptations, discusses a reconciliation of different genres without sacrificing the loss of their respective strength. This paper also draws support from other scholars ’discussion of originality and intertextuality to land on a conclusion: it is fully possible to reconcile different artistic genres, and this reconciliation will, as Benjamin put it, lead to the“afterlife”of a literary work.
