The strengthening of the beams with steel strands at the negative bending moment place is needed to meet the requirement of negative bending moment bearing capacity and crack resistance for a bridge in South-to-north Water Transfer Project. The prestressed strengthening process and steps is introduced,and the corresponding measures are applied. The theory analysis and calculation for this scheme are done. The result shows that this scheme is feasible.
