Haruki Murakami, who started his writing career with Hear the Wind Sing (1979), announced to switch his writing style from“Detachment”to“Commitment”in 1995, for he was shocked by the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake that happened in his hometown and Sarin gas attack on the subway made by Aum Shinrikyo.However, except After Dark (2004), all of his works, especially the misifre 1Q84 (2009~2010), were quite far from“Commitment”since his announcement.In contrast, Mo Yan , who stole a march upon Haruki Murakami to win the Nobel Prize in Literature, writes in a different style.His works, just like his symbolic work Frog (Japanese version 2009) which takes the family planning policy in China as a unique point of view, embody the realities of China.
