With high frequency and high mortality, mountain flood is one of the most devastating natural disasters and has drawn wide attention nationwide and worldwide. Consequently, more and more countries and regions are initiating mountain flood risk assessment activities in recent years. Communities, as the basic units of societies, play an important role in mountain flood prevention and mitigation. This research presents a mountain flood risk assessment system for community level. The system was successful y applied in a pilot community, Lengshuiping community of Xianyang city, Hubei Province. The results demonstrate that the system is suitable to support future wider applications both in China and abroad.
