Objective To evaluate the impact of improved quality of sleep on metabolism indicators and quality of life in patients with type 2 diabetes associated with sleep disorders. Methods Patients with type 2 diabetes associated with sleep disorders were screened through the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index questionnaire. At last, 62 cas-es participated in the study. The subjects were randomly divided into intervention group and control group. Interven-tion group received treatment with sleep education and insomnia drugs for 3 months, and then compared with control group in metabolic indicators and quality of life. Results At the end point, metabolism indicators and quality of life in intervention group had improved, including that fasting blood glucose decreased 1.50 mmol/L, glycosylated hemo-globin dropped 0.65%, fasting level of insulin reducing 3.2 mU/L, systolic blood pressure declined 10 mmHg, the insu-lin resistance lowered, quality of sleep and quality of life were improved, these differences were statistically signifi-cant (P<0.05). 62.5%patients in intervention group had improved quality of sleep with significant effective or effec-tive. Their metabolic indicators, such as fasting blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin, fasting level of insulin, insu-lin resistance, were improved significantly compared with the whole intervention group. Conclusion The merger of sleep disorders in patients with type 2 diabetes needs active treatment so as to improve the patient's blood glucose lev-els, insulin resistance, and the quality of life.
