An efficient and facile synthesis of pyrimidine-6-one derivatives is reported via the reaction of aromatic al-dehydes ,ethyl 2-cyanoacetate and cyanoguanidine under solvent-free conditions catalyzed by NaOH .The structures of the products were identified by IR ,1 HNMR and HRMS .This protocol has the advantages of shorter time ,mild conditions ,lower cost and environmental friendliness .
