The flexible electric braking technology is applied in large hydraulic turbine generators considering the char -acteristics of frequent start and stop .In the flexible electric braking excitation system , the excitation system of the syn-chronous generator is combined with the electric braking system .The structure , basic principles and the realization method are presented in detail .Experimental results of the flexible electric braking system in the 650 MW generator u-nits in Nuozhadu hydropower station are introduced .
