The operation condition of Xing-An HVDC Project in 2012 is analyzed, the operation indexes such as energy availability, forced energy unavailability, transmission power are summarized. The events which affect the reliability of HVDC project such as DC blocking, ESOF, DC temporary outage are analyzed. The protection maloperation events and typical events are analyzed, whose causes, problems exposed, on-site treatments and counter-measurements are introduced in detail. Contrary to that the problems the events exposed focus on the secondary circuits, and in the repair and maintenance work in the past, there is idea"heavy equipment, light circuit", a new idea"heavy circuit, light logic"is put forward in the future maintenance work, and emphasizing the standby loop circuit checks. All above are not only valuable to improve the ability of operation and maintenance to ensure the safety and the reliability of HVDC system, but also benefit to improve the design, commissioning and operation level of HVDC power transmission projects in China in the future.
